…Yikes, stripes!

I made this quilt as a gift for Mr. K. Isn’t it lovely? It’s the first large quilt I’ve ever made, and it was both a pleasure and a challenge. It took weeks longer than expected, minor injuries occurred, and it turns out that wrangling a heavy rolled quilt is…complicated. But there’s a magic to piecing together something beautiful and watching it take shape. It was immensely satisfying to create this thing. I think this is true of most handmade objects, yes? When you make something, you start to have a better appreciation of what goes in to the world around you: A table, a quilt, a piece of music, a dinner…they all require time, skill, patience, perseverance, creativity. Sleeping under a quilt you made is all the cozier for the time and love put into it.
